Onam Celebration

06 September 2019 witnessed the colourful Onam celebration of the academic year. The function was well organized, simple and elegant. The renowned poet and professor Shri. Sumesh Krishnan was the Chief Guest of the day. He won the hearts of the audience by his excellent oratorial skill and melodious recitation of his own poems and the most popular poems demanded by the audience. Rev Joseph Vattaparambil CMI, Manager, Christ Nagar Group of Institutions, Rev. Fr. Joseph Eenthumkuzhy CMI, Rev Dr Kurian Chalangady CMI, Principal Christ Nagar Hr Sec. School, Rev. Fr. Tinto Pulinchuvallil CMI, Bursar and Vice Principal, Mr Thomas Mani, Vice Principal, Ms Jessamma Sebastian, the Co-ordinator of the event, were also present. The ‘Kalaripayattu’ by the Trivandrum District Kalari Sangham was the highlight of the day. The ‘Thiruvathira’ by the students and teachers was an eye-catching performance. The ‘Onappattu’ rendered by the teachers proved apt for the occasion. Various events like Vadamvali, Uriyadi, Valupiditham, Muscial Chairs, etc., added colour and vigour to the events.

Teachers’ Day

We, at Christ Nagar celebrated with great pomp Teachers’ Day that falls every year on 05 September is the birthday of India’s former President, Dr SarvepalliRadhakrishnan. By observing the day as Teachers’ Day we pay tribute to this great mentor,distinguished envoy and academician. On this day, our Chief Guest was ShriVilakkudiRajendran, well-known Editor and Litterateur. Other personalities who graced the dais were our Princiapl, Rev Dr KurianChalangady CMI, our Vice Principal and Bursar, Rev. Fr Tinto Pulinchuvallil CMI and Vice Principal Mr Thomas Mani. The morning witnessed the ceremony of Honouring the Senior Teachers. It was an expression of gratitude to six senior teachers for their exemplary service. The Principal and Vice Principal handed over mementos, and donned the Ponnada for each of the teachers. The teachers thus honoured were: Mr Thomas Mani P, Mr Velayudhan Nair, Ms Lalitha Justin, Ms Rohini Ramachandran, Ms Lauretta A Silva, and Ms Sheela Joseph. At the formal meeting there was also the ceremonious Guruvandanam when all the teachers gathered in the quadrangle, and were revered by the students.


28 students were selected as members of the Quiz Club for the year 2019-’20. Diaries were provided to each to collect and record quiz questions. The first meeting was convened by the Principal. The Club holds meetings every week and discusses the collected questions. The club members participate regularly in competitions organized by different schools, universities and organisations, and they bring back prizes.


On 22 August, 2019, the K G celebrated Pilleronam, a traditional festival celebrated 27 days before Thiruvonam, in the month of Karkidakam. Mahabali and Vamana were taken around the campus. Various games were conducted for the children. Delicious payasam was served.


MalayalaManoramaVayanakkalari was launched on 02 July, 2019. Dr Sree Vishnu, Santhigiri Hospital, inaugurated the event by handing over copies of the newspaper to the School Head Boy and Head Girl. The Principal, Rev. Dr KurianChalangady CMI, Joshy John Mathew, Circulation Officer, MalayalaManorama, and Ms Annamma Jones, Staff Secretary were also present.
